Bird nest mushroom

I think that the mushroom that Krista brought to Monday's meeting  could be Crucibulum parvulum.  It means very small. The nest looks like an inverted ice cream cone. (The whole picture is smaller than 1/2 inch).
In retrospect I should have taken more pictures; they were other interesting mushrooms.
Joe,
Crucibulum parvulum

  1. Joe, the picture shows what you need to identify the birds nest. Good shot of the peridioles and how the rain splashes them out of the nests. Genny Steiner

    1. Genny, now that you mention it, I can see for first time, 3 or 4 of them outside of the nest. Joe.

  2. Thanks, Joe, for investigating further. These came in on bagged bark mulch that we placed the fall before last. In early summer they started to appear everywhere - tiny little yellow buttons that were exactly the color of Pacific chanterelles. I hope they come back this year. There is quite a bit of thick, white mycelium in places, but I don't know if it is from this fungi or not.
